I am very excited to be your local Macaroni Kid publisher. My name is Megan Shadrick and I am the proud mom of two sweet and funny boys. I grew up an hour northeast of Jefferson City but just moved with my family back to this area in July of 2016. In January 2016 I left my position at Missouri State University because our boys needed me and more of my time. Ā Our family moved to the D.C. area for six months prior to moving to Jeff City. Coming from a city that offers anything imaginable to do with your kids, I was afraid we wouldn't have anything to do with our boys in Jeff City. I was amazed to see how much this city has to offer families! I quickly grew to love this city and everything it has to offer! As your publisher, my hope is to be able to give back to this community that has already given so much to our family. It is my goal to make your Macaroni Kid website and weekly newsletter the one place to go to learn about everything going on in Jefferson City and surrounding communities for families. I love being outdoors, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with close friends. I am a podcast junky and currently subscribe to 85 different podcasts. If you see me around town you may notice I use a long white cane. I am blind, so if you wave at me please don't think I am ignoring you; I just don't see you! Please stop me and say hello. I look forward to meeting all my subscribers!
I also want to take this opportunity to thank The Special Learning Center staff and the Capable kids and Families Program and the ladies of our local Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS), for providing support and opportunities to connect with other families and making me really feel welcome here in Jeff City! Thank you to JeffTran and the super nice handi wheels drivers for getting me and my boys where we need to go!
