As a newcomer to Jefferson City, Missouri (well 3 years, but Covid years don't count!) my family has stretched to all corners of the region being local tourists. We called Brooklyn, NY home before we moved to Lake of the Ozarks where my parents had retired. My husband and I both found work in Jefferson City and the rest is history! Before life in Missouri, I was a NY nanny, trekking through the city, spending my days at Central Park, the zoo or museums - what a life! I realized here that I regretted not getting to give my kids the same life experience, so I have transitioned home while my kids are still young (2 and 5) so we can fully enjoy our life here. One thing I LOVE about Jefferson City is the local vibe, there are so many incredible locally owned and operated businesses, plus more to anticipate opening in 2024.

Yanis Coffee Zone

What we love: My husband considers this the best coffee in the midwest! But the coffee isn't the best thing about Yanis Coffee Zone. There is not a more friendly establishment in Jefferson City, they even remembered who we were our 2nd trip into the shop! My favorite: The breakfast wrap (add gyro!) and an almond flavored latte. My husband loved their Jet Fuel coffee. Kids love the chocolate chip cooke!
Three Story Coffee

What we love: Some coffee shops not only offer you a warm hug when you take your first sip, but also offer you a sense of warmness when you walk in the building - that is Three Story Coffee for me. Their new location on Bolivar is an open space that blends industrial with cozy cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. When the weather is nice, I love sitting on the upstairs balcony with Capitol building views.

What we love: This is hands down the best lunch spot in town. Great price, great portion and boba - need I say more? We collectively have a few favorites: The Pho Brisket, Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Noodles and the Spring Rolls. Kids love the Pineapple Fried Rice!
Pizza Underground

What we love: Coming from Brooklyn, we had low hopes for pizza, but who knew Missouri was a pizza state (not us!) Pizza Underground crust has a chew that is reminiscent of a NY slice, but specialty pizzas that are super unique. Not to mention, the best cupcakes in town. Check their Facebook for daily specials!

What we love: We discovered Ice Cream Factory when we lived at the Lake, however our love for it was reignited we we discovered their second location here in Jefferson City! My favorite: Espresso Milkshake or Ooeey Butter Cake. Husband's favorite: Mustang Tracks. Kids love Cobalt Cookie
